The Dexter Wallet: A Passkey Wallet for You and Your Agents
Dexter ships a self-custodial passkey wallet where money stays in your wallet until the moment it's spent, earns while it sits, and works from a mobile browser. Live today with the SDK.
The News
JULY 2026 - Dexter today reveals the Dexter Wallet: a self-custodial passkey wallet for people and their agents, live now on the Dexter website and in the SDK.
The wallet works from a mobile browser with a face scan or fingerprint. There is no Dexter account behind it and no server holding a private key: the passkey itself is the signature that lands on-chain. Money stays in the owner's wallet until the moment it is spent, and it earns while it sits.
The Problem It Ends
Agent payments today come in two broken shapes. Pay-per-hit works for a nickel here and a dime there, but the payments that matter for the agent economy, like inference and compute, are variable amounts owed to counterparties you often don't know in advance. The alternative has been pre-funding: put $10 into ten different services and you now have zero dollars in your wallet, no refunds, and nothing earning.
Tabs
The Dexter Wallet replaces both shapes with the tab. When you sit down at a bar you open a tab; you don't hand the bartender $100 up front to drink against. A Dexter tab works the same way: funds stay in the buyer's wallet until the tab settles, and the seller stays protected the whole time.
Tabs is an open standard. The specification is a published IETF Internet-Draft, draft-sander-open-tabs-passkey, open for review.
The Passkey Is the Signature
Every passkey wallet until now has been a passkey unlocking a private key on somebody's server, which is secure for exactly as long as that server is. In the Dexter Wallet, the passkey signs on-chain directly. That design is why it works from a mobile browser with no wallet app in between, and it is how spending limits for agents are enforced by the chain rather than promised by a server. Set what an agent can spend, per tab and per category, and the chain says no for you.
Yield and Credit
Deposits earn while the money stays in the owner's own wallet, with no pool to withdraw from before spending again. The rate is variable, targeting 8 to 11% at launch.
Credit starts small and grows with repayment. For people, Dexter is opening a personhood credit pilot: verify a World ID in the wallet and receive a credit line that can be spent through agents or withdrawn outright. The pilot will open to up to 250 people, with the goal of the best repayment behavior reaching a $1,000 line by the end of the year.
Sign in with Dexter
The SDK ships Sign in with Dexter, Connect with Dexter, and Pay with Dexter. A developer adds them in a couple of lines of code; users bring their own agents to any site that supports them, with one face scan from a phone.
Live Today
The wallet and SDK are live now. A Tabs hackathon with $5,000 prizes and flagship partner use cases will be announced in the coming days.
