Dexter Becomes First Resource Server to Implement x402scan's Discovery Specification
JANUARY 2026 — Dexter today announced support for x402scan's Discovery Standard, becoming the first production resource server to implement the specification. The standard enables AI agents and clients to programmatically discover x402-enabled APIs without hardcoded URLs or manual configuration.
The implementation is now live at https://x402.dexter.cash/.well-known/x402.
What Is the Discovery Standard?
Developed by Merit Systems and published via x402scan, the Discovery Standard defines a machine-readable format for x402 resource servers to advertise their available endpoints, payment terms, and capabilities.
Agents querying a server's /.well-known/x402 endpoint receive:
- A list of all discoverable x402-enabled resources
- Human-readable instructions for the server's API
- Cryptographic ownership proofs linking the server to its payment addresses
Cryptographic Ownership Proofs
Dexter's implementation includes signed ownership proofs for both its Solana and Base payment addresses. These proofs let clients verify—cryptographically—that they're paying the correct wallet before sending funds.
This adds a trust layer beyond DNS: even if a domain is compromised, agents can validate that the payTo addresses match the signatures in the discovery document.
